Misago — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how MISAGO LLC (“MISAGO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Misago application and related services (the “Service”). Questions? Email hello@misagolabs.com.

Misago is currently a free, invitation-only beta. We have deliberately kept the data we collect minimal.

1. Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, collected when you sign in. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email; we do not store a password.
Content you submit. The text of the repair and maintenance questions you ask, and the task or vehicle context you enter so the Service can answer (for example, the job you want to perform). The beta supports a single vehicle configuration and does not collect VIN, photos, or uploaded images.
Usage and device data. Through our analytics provider (PostHog), we collect standard product-analytics data: app events and interactions, device and operating-system information, app version, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to understand how the beta is used and to improve it.

We do not collect payment information (the beta is free), and we do not collect precise GPS location.

2. AI processing and Anthropic (how your questions are answered)

Misago generates its guidance using large language models provided by Anthropic, PBC (“Anthropic”), accessed through the Anthropic API. To answer your request, the following is transmitted to Anthropic to be processed on our behalf:

the text of your question or request, and
the vehicle and task context needed to produce the answer.

We do not send your name, email address, account identifier, or sign-in credentials to Anthropic, and each request is processed independently — no prior conversations or history are attached. Keep in mind that free text you enter (such as your task description or a vehicle nickname) is part of the content sent, so avoid typing personal information you don’t want processed.

Anthropic processes this data as our service provider under Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum. Under those commercial terms, Anthropic does not use the inputs or outputs from API requests to train its models by default, and retains data only for a limited period as needed to provide the service and to screen for misuse and safety. (Anthropic’s separate consumer terms — including longer retention and training-by-default — do not apply to the Service.)

Consent. Before Misago first sends any of your content to Anthropic, the app shows you an in-app notice explaining what will be sent and asks for your consent. You can decline, in which case AI-generated guidance will not run and nothing is transmitted. You can withdraw consent later under Settings → Privacy → AI Guidance, which stops further AI requests from your account until you grant consent again.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

provide, operate, and secure the Service and generate your guidance;
understand and improve how the beta performs;
communicate with you about the Service (you can opt out of non-essential messages); and
comply with legal obligations.

We do not use the content of your questions to train our own models.

We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf under agreements requiring confidentiality and security, and only to deliver the Service:

Anthropic — AI processing (see Section 2).
Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication (stores your account email and your tasks/generated plans).
PostHog — product analytics (see Section 1).

The Service is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which process data under their own policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period afterward to meet legal and operational needs. Because this is a beta, data may also be reset or deleted before or upon general availability. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 6).

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (including under Washington and other U.S. state laws, and the GDPR/UK GDPR if applicable), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@misagolabs.com and we will assist you. You can also withdraw AI-processing consent in-app (Section 2). During the beta, account deletion is handled by email — write to hello@misagolabs.com and we will delete your account and associated data promptly.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Misago is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

9. International transfers

We and our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We will notify you of material changes via the app or email and update the effective date above.
